Proven Immunotherapy Treatments for Lasting Comfort and Wellness
Commonly referred to as allergy shots, subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) routinely exposes your body to inhalants such as dust mites, outdoor pollens, dog and cat proteins via a series of shots in order to desensitize your immune system.
Shots begin 1-2 times per week for ~ 6 months in our clinic while building up on the dose. Once the highest dose is reached (maintenance), shots can be spaced out to monthly injections. Three to five years of maintenance injections should protect most people for the rest of their life.
Sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) offers a similar therapy via tablets that dissolve under your tongue. These can be administered at home seasonally or year round and help to desensitize people allergic to dust mites, grass and/or ragweed pollen. This offers a convenient therapy without injections.
